What we do and what we have done:
1 Rolia Gala((yearly,for all ages) , started from year 2001 and the 2009 attendance is 1400 people.
As early as 2001, Rolians started to volunteer their own time and energy to organize community events. In the summer of 2003, RCA was established. This organization was positioned as a
platform to promote the life quality and career development of Chinese Canadians. In the last six years, RCA successfully delivered dozens of programs that covered various aspects of immigrants' lives.
Rolia Gala, a new year celebration event, is one of the most famous events among Canada's Chinese community due to its unique charm. This annual event features "voluntariness": From the organizers, the directors, the performers, to supporting crew members, everybody participates voluntarily without any pay. The audience consists of Rolians, together with their families and friends. It is not only an event of celebrating new year, but also a chance to promote the community spirit--During the more than nine months of program rehearsal and preparation, the volunteers team up, work out and show off the programs. In late 2001, the first Rolia Gala attracted 150 people. A year later, the number became 400. From 2004, RCA started to rent 1000-seat school auditoriums for the shows. Starting from the 2007 Rolia Gala, we have to put up two shows in a day to accommodate more audience. The upcoming 2010 Rolia Gala will be held on January 16, 2010. Same as last, the shows are in
a professional theatre, the P. C. Ho Theatre in the Chinese Cultural Centre of Greater Toronto (CCCGT). There will be an afternoon show and an evening show. Based on our previous experience, this year we are expecting to welcome 1250 people at the gala.
2 Rolia Idol (Teen and Adult) , year 2005, year 2009
A copy show of Canadian Idol and American Idol was held in a school theater.
3 Rolia group monthly birthday party (for families who have children between 1-5 years old)
4 Rolia Children Gala(for families who have children between 1-15 years old)
5 Rolia Senior activities bi-weekly(for seniors only)
6 Rolia Halloween party (for families who have children between 1-5 years old),
